Responsibilities:

 The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities. This role requires a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Primary function:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and building systems according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment, plumbing, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Execute emergency repairs promptly to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
  • Analyzes malfunctioning machines and systems (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.) and makes necessary repairs, adjustments, modifications.
  • Repairs production equipment, plant equipment, and related facilities as directed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to effectively diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Dismantle and reassemble machinery and equipment to replace defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Operate a variety of shop equipment, including lathes, grinders, and welding equipment, as needed for repairs and fabrication.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment and systems to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruptions.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery.
  • Follow GMP/PPE, Safety guidelines based on SOPs/Work Instructions.
  • Follow & maintain HACCP & Sanitation Guidelines & Processes based on SOPs/Work Instructions.
  • Report any safety violation, unsafe conditions, or injuries to the Safety Administrator.
  • The maintenance mechanic must be available to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Other responsibilities maybe be added as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, electrical, or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual – Spanish strongly preferred
  • 1 year of proven experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery.
  • Ability to use all power tools, hand tools, drill presses, shop tools, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, including motors, controls, and PLCs.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Able to use a variety of communication methods on a frequent basis.
  • Able to sit, stand, stoop and have use of hand motor coordination regularly.
  • Knowledge to perform manufacturing and facilities repairs, including manufacturing equipment changeovers
  • Ability to multi-task and efficiently handle multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in a team environment

Typical Physical Activity:
Physical Demands consist of standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, grasping, stooping, and lifting 50 lbs. or more. Physical Demands consist of the ability to move rolling carts of varying weights - up to and exceedingly approximately 300lbs. Physical Requirements consist of being able to meet the physical demands for the entire shift.
