SaaS Onboarding -Systems Engineer & Automation - AVP

Charles River Development is an award-winning provider of software and services to the Investments/Financial Services industry. Our client base includes many of the world's largest investment and financial institutions. To better serve the growing demand for our Software as a managed service offering.

This is an internal process improvement, business and technical staff position responsible for managing and supporting as an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Systems & Automation, the candidate will work as conduit within our financial technology ecosystem working with platform engineering, product, SaaS implementation teams. This is not a "maintenance" role; the candidate is expected to be an agent of change. Candidate will scrutinize our existing manual workflows, identify structural gaps, and build the automated bridges necessary to ensure seamless, secure, and rapid software delivery implementing standard SaaS strategy. This AVP position grants the authority to challenge the status quo. The candidate will not just be using the tools but will be working and deciding how to roll out certain functionality on the SaaS platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Audit existing manual processes across the application lifecycle and design/implement automated solutions to eliminate toil.
  • Develop and maintain robust configuration management scripts using Ansible, Python & PowerShell.
  • Work with product/engineering teams to optimize the CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, risk-mitigated deployments of CRIMS applications.
  • Responsible for ensuring efficiency, availability and configuration of the "CRD Development" SaaS platform by providing solutions based on sound technical knowledge.
  • Adopt, customize and implement industry standard DevOps policies and DevOps procedures.
  • Create and maintain automated scripts/tools that will build, configure, deploy and test applications deployed to different environments, maintain, support, and enhance continuous integration environments.
  • Work hands on with the system, installing and configuring it and testing that it meets the product's technical and business requirements.
  • Work with an automated release management process for SaaS clients.
  • Break down moderately complex processes into simple and reliable components.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, taking a project from "identified gap" to "automated solution" without constant supervision.

Requirements:

  • Experience in DevOps (or related) technologies.
  • Knowledge of proficient scripting language using Python or any other object-oriented technologies is must.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, JFrog, Git is mandatory.
  • Experience with the following is must: Web technologies, databases, server operating systems, servers, networks, job scheduling software, system monitoring software, clusters/high availability systems, Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity etc.
  • Experience or familiarity with servers and networks is preferred. NoSQL experience is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL, MS SQL, Oracle Server, PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Understanding Infrastructure as Service cloud providers such Azure, AWS and Oracle cloud is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of web technologies and ability to write REST API in python with web framework is advantage.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services.
  • Experience and knowledge in network protocols (e.g. WINS, DNS, TCP/IP, WinRM, ssh, SFTP, SMTP)
  • Experience with automation, using scripting and tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, RunDeck is added advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years in a DevOps, Automation Engineer, or Systems Engineering role, preferably within the Financial Services or Banking sector.
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, MIC/CIS, etc.
  • Understanding of financial application logic and the regulatory rigors of banking production environments.

Salary Range:

$91,000 - $140,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
