Job description

Worth is now looking for a Head of Quality Assurance to build, lead, and elevate our QA function across the organization. This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will define quality standards, build scalable testing processes, and lead a team of QA engineers - while remaining deeply technical yourself.

This is not a purely managerial QA role. You must be comfortable writing automation, reviewing test code, designing frameworks, and stepping in to debug complex issues when needed. You should have prior experience as an SDET or highly technical QA engineer and understand how to build automation that scales with the product.

You will bring structure to our testing strategy, own our test management processes in Qase, and ensure quality is embedded into our development lifecycle rather than treated as a final checkpoint. Your success will be measured by improved release confidence, reduced regressions, and stronger engineering accountability for quality.

Responsibilities
    • Lead and manage the QA function, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management of QA engineers.
    • Define and evolve the company-wide quality strategy across manual and automated testing.
    • Design and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks.
    • Write and review automation code across API, integration, and UI layers.
    • Establish clear standards for test coverage, regression testing, and release validation.
    • Own and organize all test case management, reporting, and traceability within Qase.
    • Ensure QA artifacts in Qase accurately reflect current system behavior and release state.
    • Build reliable CI-integrated automation pipelines that provide fast feedback to engineering.
    • Partner closely with Engineering and Product to define acceptance criteria and quality gates.
    • Implement risk-based testing strategies to prioritize coverage effectively.
    • Drive reduction in regression defects and production escapes.
    • Introduce metrics and dashboards that provide visibility into quality trends.
    • Improve incident postmortem processes to ensure quality learnings are captured and implemented.
    • Advocate for quality as a shared responsibility across engineering teams.
    • Step into complex debugging scenarios when necessary to unblock releases.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience leading QA teams.
  • Prior experience as an SDET or highly technical QA engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience writing automated tests in modern frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, etc.).
  • Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Deep understanding of test pyramid strategy (unit, integration, end-to-end).
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven experience implementing and organizing structured test case management in Qase.
  • Strong understanding of API testing, event-driven systems, and distributed architectures.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to design risk-based test strategies that balance coverage with speed.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and hiring capabilities.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to create accountability without friction.
Success Metrics
  • Reduction in regression defects and production escapes.
  • Increased automated test coverage across critical systems.
  • Faster and more confident release cycles.
  • Clear, organized, and reliable QA tracking within Qase.
  • The QA team demonstrates measurable growth in technical capability.
  • Engineering teams adopt stronger quality ownership and testing discipline.
  • Incident learnings consistently translate into improved test coverage.
Bonus Points (nice to haves, not requirements)
  • Experience implementing contract testing or consumer-driven contract frameworks.
  • Experience testing event-driven architectures using Kafka.
  • Experience building performance or load testing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and environment provisioning.
  • Experience scaling QA functions in high-growth environments.
  • Background in both manual exploratory testing and deep automation strategy.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance
  • Flexible Paid Time Off
  • 9 paid Holidays
  • Family Leave
  • Remote
  • Hybrid work (for Orlando Associates)
  • Free Food & Snacks (Orlando)
