Position Title: Marine Mechanic Department: Charters & Tours
Salary Range: D.O.E Reports to: Charters & Tours Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The Marina Mechanic for the Tours & Boat Charters Department is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing tour boats, charter vessels, and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality guest experiences. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting daily operations of the tours and charters fleet. The ideal candidate is skilled, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION & DUTIES
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on tour boats and charter vessels, including engines, propulsion systems, and electrical components.
- Inspect and maintain onboard systems such as hydraulics, plumbing, and safety equipment to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards.
- Maintain and service marina lifts, docks, and other equipment used in the tours and boat charters operation.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in maintenance logs.
- Support tours and charters staff by ensuring vessels are operational, clean, and safe prior to guest use.
- Assist with pre-trip checks, fueling, and general vessel preparation.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for boats and marina operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, parts, and service areas.
- Possess the ability to react productively to other duties as reasonably assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge on conducting routine services and maintenance.
- Demonstrate knowledge on inspecting for faults and repairs.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment required to complete task(s).
- Excellent customer service skills. Boat operation knowledge required.
- Formal education or certification in marine mechanics; Mercury Certified Outboard Technician highly preferred.
- SeaDoo Technician Certification highly preferred.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; technical certification in marine mechanics highly preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in marine engine repair and maintenance (gasoline, diesel engines).
- Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems used in boats and small vessels.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license; boating license preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions, including sun, heat, and water exposure.
- Team-oriented with excellent communication skills, especially in a guest-facing operational environment.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of APM marina services and amenities.
- Skills which allow for the tactful resolution of guest problems or concerns.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in fire extinguisher operation.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in ISO/EMS awareness.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in employee orientation.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in hazard communication.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in hazardous materials response/respiratory protection.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in emergency response.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in recyclable materials.
- Knowledge or ability to be trained in blood borne pathogen awareness.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The performance of stated functions and duties may occur in, but are not limited to: office settings, confined spaces such as boat hulls, public or common areas such as restaurant or retail establishment; inclement weather conditions may be a factor including rain, snow, wind, extreme temperatures. General industry levels of noise and stimuli should be expected in all settings.
*Controllable working conditions (i.e. temperature, lighting) may be altered to create a more conducive working environment for staffing needs, however such accommodations shall not create an undue hardship on the Company or other staff members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands of the position may include, but are not limited to sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Lifting, carrying and otherwise maneuvering heavy objects with or without assistance. Climbing, crouching, reaching, extending and other bodily movements in work areas such as boats, office settings, docks
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
It is important that the incumbent be able to communicate effectively in English including speaking, understanding, reading, and writing for the purpose of general interactions with staff, guests and customers. Additional linguistic proficiency is welcomed and encouraged, but not required for the performance of the position.
