Job description

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Chart’s core business is centered around the design and fabrication of cryogenic equipment.  The diverse applications we service echo our commitment to sustainability – from providing full hydrogen solutions across the value chain, offering small and industrial scale carbon capture solutions to customers globally, creating water treatment systems responsible for treating 4.5 billion gallons of water per day in the U.S. and delivering clean water to over a billion people worldwide, providing equipment and solutions for mission critical space launches, decarbonizing the marine industry, and electrifying the mining space. Chart even contributes to the food and beverage industry by making some of your favorite carbonated beverages possible – If nitro coffee or nitro ice cream is your thing.

This is a day shift position.  The hours are 5:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Thursday.

What Will You Do?
  • Independently performs moderate to complex welding activities, including hand welding and material handling equipment
  • Welds metal parts on fixtures including attaching jigs and clamps to hold metal parts in proper position
  • Determines type and gauge of steel to be welded making appropriate heat adjustments, as required, on large thickness variations
  • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels, as well as correct components installed on the finished product
  • Updates and maintains all required documentation associated with job responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area and general housekeeping standards, such as care for assigned tools and proper disposal of hazardous waste 
  • Understands and practices established safety and quality standard procedures, including utilization of chemical solutions to clean containers
  • Performs all tasks to ISO standards and requirements
  • May be required to perform mass spec and visual inspections meeting stringent visual requirements
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this role, including close vision. color evaluations and the ability to adjust to focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Medium to loud noise level in the work environment.

Your Experience Should Be...

Required

  • A minimum of 2 years of TIG welding experience
  • Must pass 3G vertical weld test and other weld tests including square butt, fillet, and groove joints depending on specific job requirements
  • Experience interpreting blueprints and bill of materials (BOM)
  • Basic math skills (weight measurement, volume, distance, multiplication and division)
  • Self-starter capable of managing workload under minimal direction and supervision
  • Must be able to measure with accuracy using tape measures, micrometers and calipers
  • Overtime and weekend hours, as needed

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Familiar with ISO procedures     
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations
