Mechanical Project Manager

We are seeking a Mechanical and Plumbing Project Manager for our office in Sacramento, California. This person will perform work in multiple market sectors to potentially include municipal, educational, medical, federal, and other private market project types. This role requires experience in technical design, project management, and business development through client interactions.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with new clientele, developing business relationships, and investing their time in mentoring the team. We stress customer service and are looking for someone who prides themselves on their ability to interact and communicate with everybody involved.

Required qualifications:
  • 6 + years of experience in HVAC and Plumbing Design and Project Management with the ability to put together complete sets of biddable construction documents.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to maintain client relationships as an ambassador for Design West Engineering
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP
  • Experience in various project types and market sectors
  • Must be able to multitask between different projects and have adaptability to changing technologies, codes, and tools
  • Must demonstrate a passion for mentorship
Desired qualifications:
  • Experience with complex mechanical systems in an array of project sectors, such as medical, K-12, commercial, and data centers
  • Experience with proposal writing and client development
  • LEED certified professional
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer in the State of California
Some job duties will include:
  • Project Management through all phases of the project
  • Running point on proposals for your clients and contributing to proposals for secondary markets
  • Ensure all projects are completed according to applicable building codes and company standards
  • Formulate a cohesive design solution within scheduled timelines and project budget.
  • Develop client relationships through quality of service and project delivery
  • Engage new clients and industry events to develop new business opportunities
  • Oversee the assigned design team and mentor team members
  • Perform team QC along with formal scheduled, outlined team trainings
  • Distribute submittals and RFI’s, ensuring correct and timely answers for all projects assigned

Targeted Compensation:
  • $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Opportunity for a bonus twice per year
