Job Summary
This is a continuous active recruitment for an application pool to fill Faculty - Open Ranks on an as-needed basis. Applications are accepted year-round and will remain in the pool.
The faculty member will serve as either Assistant/Associate/Professor for the College of Graduate Nursing, and will teach in the CGN programs, participate in college and university committees, conduct scholarly research, and perform other such duties as directed by the Dean of the College.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum requirements will vary depending on rank, but generally include:
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
1. Expertise and knowledge of nursing and advanced practice of nursing.
2. Ability to design, implement and evaluate courses, lectures and seminars and evaluate student achievement.
3. Knowledge of basic and advanced clinical skills required of nurses in multiple settings.
4. Maintain accurate records and reports of clinical and didactic performance of students.
5. Ability to communicate with a variety of health professionals that contribute to the clinical/didactic education of nursing students.
6. Work effectively with colleagues, staff and administration to advance the mission of the institution.
7. Demonstrate basic computer literacy and skills in emerging teaching technologies. Willingness to remain flexible and adapt to the changing technological advancements associated with a web-based curriculum.
Required Qualifications
Minimum requirements will vary depending on rank, but generally include:
1. EDUCATION: Must possess a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution. Doctoral degree desirable but not required.
2. LICENSURE: Must possess a current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
3. EXPERIENCE: Two years teaching experience in nursing education preferred.

1. Teach in the CGN programs with a teaching load appropriate to the balance of their other job functions. Teaching assignments vary each semester.

2. Participate as a faculty advisor to masters students.

3. Participate in recruitment, scholarship development, and facilitation of student clinical experiences.

4. Participate in institutional and college activities which may include:
a) Curriculum development and/or evaluation.
b) Dean's Cabinet Meetings, CGN committees and university committee work.
c) College information sessions.

5. Participate in College and University including: Orientation, Commencement, Convocation, and other special events.

6. Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of the college.
