Job description

CG Insurance Agency is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Insurance Sales Producer to join our growing team. This is a consultative sales role designed to set you up for success from day one — with company-provided lead opportunities that give you a strong foundation while you learn our products, systems, and clients.

We believe in building producers the right way. Early on, you will focus on working provided opportunities and developing your craft. Over time, as your confidence and knowledge grow, you will naturally begin creating additional opportunities of your own — through referral relationships, centers of influence, networking, and community involvement. That self-generated activity is not just encouraged, it is rewarded through increased incentive compensation.

The ideal candidate is someone who appreciates a supported start but has the drive and personality to grow beyond it. If you are relationship-oriented, motivated by earnings, and excited by the idea of building something over time — this role was designed for you.

This is an in-office position based in Haslett, Michigan, offering the stability of a base salary with meaningful incentive upside tied directly to your new business performance.

Why CG Insurance Agency

• Company-provided lead opportunities give you a strong foundation from day one — you are supported from the start, not left to figure it out alone.

• As you grow, so does your earning potential — self-generated referrals and new business opportunities created on your own initiative are rewarded with increased incentive compensation.

• Base salary with performance incentives tied to new business production — earn more as you grow.

• Independent agency model — access to multiple top-rated carriers means you can shop the market and recommend the right solution, not a mandated one.

• Collaborative, professional team environment with leadership that is invested in your development.

• In-office culture that fosters learning, accountability, and camaraderie.

• A firm built on long-term client relationships — you will be proud of what you represent.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

New Business Development

• Work company-provided lead opportunities as the foundation of your pipeline — converting and closing with professionalism and follow-through.

• As you become comfortable in the role, proactively develop your own referral sources and centers of influence — mortgage brokers, realtors, CPAs, auto dealers, and other community connectors — creating additional earning opportunities beyond provided leads.

• Over time, build and maintain a referral network that generates consistent self-sourced new business alongside company-provided opportunities.

• Participate in periodic marketing and community events representing the CG Insurance brand — building visibility and converting relationships into new business opportunities.

• Conduct outbound follow-up activities including calls, emails, and proposal delivery with consistency and discipline.

• Maintain a disciplined, organized approach to pipeline management and follow-through.

• Consistently meet or exceed monthly and annual new business production goals.

Consultative Insurance Reviews

• Conduct thorough needs-based insurance reviews to identify coverage gaps and client exposures.

• Educate clients on coverage options, risk considerations, and the value of adequate protection.

• Deliver professional, confident insurance proposals tailored to each client's situation.

• Recommend appropriate solutions based on client needs — not carrier convenience.

Relationship Building Account Rounding

• Build lasting client relationships that generate referrals and expand household coverage.

• Identify opportunities to round out accounts with additional lines of coverage.

• Participate in client retention and annual review initiatives.

• Represent CG Insurance Agency with professionalism in every client interaction.

Carrier Market Management

• Leverage our multi-carrier platform to obtain competitive coverage options for clients.

• Stay current on carrier appetite, underwriting guidelines, and product offerings.

• Present clients with clear, well-reasoned coverage comparisons and recommendations.

CRM, Documentation Compliance

• Document all client and prospect interactions accurately and consistently within agency management systems.

• Maintain a well-organized sales pipeline with up-to-date activity tracking and follow-up scheduling.

• Adhere to EO best practices and carrier compliance requirements at all times.

• Complete all required documentation standards with accuracy and timeliness.

Team Participation

• Actively participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and agency growth initiatives.

• Collaborate with service team members to ensure a seamless, professional client experience.

• Contribute to a positive, performance-driven team culture.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For

Required

• Active Michigan Property Casualty License — or the demonstrated ability and commitment to obtain licensure within 60 days of offer.

• Proven experience in sales, customer service, or business development — insurance background helpful but not required.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you connect with people naturally and build trust quickly.

• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a track record of hitting or exceeding targets — you are energized by earning and motivated to grow.

• Comfortable working a structured lead process and, over time, developing your own referral network and centers of influence.

• Outgoing and personable — comfortable representing a brand at community events and networking functions as opportunities arise.

• Proficient with CRM platforms, agency management systems, and standard business technology.

Preferred

• Previous insurance sales or financial services experience.

• Familiarity with personal lines and/or commercial lines products and coverages.

• Experience using agency management or CRM platforms in a sales environment.

• Existing referral network or community presence in the greater Lansing/Mid-Michigan area.

What To Expect — Your First Year

We set our Insurance Sales Producers up to succeed. Here is a general outline of your onboarding and ramp timeline:

Learn our systems, carrier relationships, products, and processes. Focus on working provided leads with close support from agency leadership. No pressure to self-generate — this is your time to learn.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, in-office position located in Haslett, Michigan. You will work in a professional, supportive environment where performance is recognized, and growth is encouraged.
