Cesium Js specialists focus on creating 3D geospatial visualizations using JavaScript, while Web GIS Developers work on broader GIS applications, including 2D maps and spatial data analysis. Both roles require JavaScript skills and GIS knowledge, but Cesium Js is more specialized in 3D visualization, making it ideal for projects needing immersive geospatial experiences.

What is CesiumJS?

CesiumJS is an open-source JavaScript library for creating 3D globes and maps in a web browser without needing a plugin. It allows developers to visualize geospatial data with high performance using WebGL, supporting features like terrain, imagery layers, 3D tiles, and time-dynamic visualization. CesiumJS is widely used for applications in fields such as geospatial analysis, urban planning, and simulation, enabling interactive and immersive experiences with real-world data.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Cesium JS Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cesium JS Developer, you need strong proficiency in JavaScript, web development, and 3D geospatial concepts, often supported by a related degree or experience in GIS. Familiarity with the CesiumJS library, WebGL, and mapping platforms, as well as knowledge of APIs and version control systems like Git, is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure the effective development and deployment of interactive 3D maps and geospatial applications that meet user and project needs.

Job description

Job Description
Verity was founded with a focus on providing advanced science and technology and business management services to commercial and government clients. Our team comprises engineers and analysts with subject matter expertise in various domains, including software development, simulation technologies, experimentation support tools, and systems analysis methodologies. Additionally, we have applied our expertise in evaluating, analyzing, and simulating emerging threats. These capabilities have been successfully applied to not only Science and Technology (S&T) programs, but also major weapon system acquisition programs and gap-filling warfighter solutions.
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to join our agile development team and support enterprise-level application development in Army, Air and Missile Defense, and/or MDA domains. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on mission-critical systems while working in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.
Position Overview
You'll lead and contribute to enterprise-scale full-stack application development and cloud deployment efforts. In this senior role, you'll take ownership of significant development tasks - coordinating design, development, and testing either independently or leading a small team - while adapting to evolving responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage larger development tasks within a broader project or program, coordinating design, development, and testing individually or with a small team
  • Drive task design, planning, and technical documentation across the software development lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and Vue.js
  • Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise cloud applications in government or classified cloud environments
  • Create interactive geospatial visualizations and mapping tools (e.g., Cesium.js)
  • Develop robust backend services with well-defined APIs and network interfaces
  • Support DevSecOps pipelines and cloud-native infrastructure practices within government compliance frameworks
  • Participate in and help guide Agile workflows, including code reviews, version control (Git/GitLab), and task planning
  • Adapt to changing responsibilities over time, taking on different roles as project needs evolve

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript and Node.js
  • Full-stack development capabilities across frontend and backend
  • Experience developing and deploying enterprise-level cloud applications
  • Experience with version control systems (Git/GitLab)
  • Strong familiarity with Agile development practices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience deploying applications to government or classified cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, IL4/IL5, or Secret/Top Secret enclaves)
  • Familiarity with DoD security and compliance requirements (RMF, ATO processes)
  • Background in geospatial visualization (e.g., Cesium.js, Mapbox)
  • Modeling and Simulation (M&S) domain knowledge
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
