Company Description The Laredo Police Department serves the community of Laredo, TX by maintaining public safety, upholding the law, and protecting residents and visitors. The department’s homicide division focuses on investigating serious violent crimes with a commitment to thorough, professional, and ethical police work. Team members collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, forensic experts, and legal professionals to ensure accurate and timely investigations. The department emphasizes integrity, accountability, and continuous training to support effective crime prevention and resolution.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Laredo, TX for a Security Professional working within the homicide detective division. The Security Professional supports homicide investigations by securing crime scenes, protecting evidence, and maintaining detailed records of activities and findings. Daily tasks may include coordinating with detectives and other units, monitoring information systems and physical facilities, and ensuring that sensitive data and investigative materials are handled in line with departmental policies and legal standards. The role also involves assessing security risks, implementing safety protocols for personnel and the public, and communicating clearly with colleagues and partner agencies. The position requires adherence to strict confidentiality, professional conduct during high-stress situations, and consistent compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Information Security and Cybersecurity to safeguard investigative data, digital evidence, and case-related systems.
  • Experience with Network Security practices to help protect law enforcement networks, communication channels, and related infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Physical Security measures, including access control, scene protection, and facility safety procedures.
  • Excellent Communication skills for clear written reports, briefings, and effective collaboration with detectives, officers, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement protocols, criminal justice procedures, and evidence handling standards.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality in sensitive cases.
  • Relevant education in criminal justice, security management, information technology, or a related field; professional certifications in security or cybersecurity are a plus.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, security operations, or investigative support preferred.
