OVERVIEW

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating several types of machinery and equipment used in the fabrication and processing of wood-based materials. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols to ensure efficient production and high-quality finished products.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up machines, adjust settings, and load/unload materials to ensure proper operation and optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine outputs, production rates, and material usage to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Utilize machinery to cut, shape, and profile wood-based materials according to technical drawings, templates, or design specifications.
  • Ensure precise alignment, layout, and symmetry of cuts to maximize material yield and minimize waste.
  • Inspect components for defects, imperfections, or inconsistencies in color, pattern, or finish while operating or unloading the machine.
  • Perform dimensional checks, surface inspections, and quality tests to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Make adjustments to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use safety guards and devices on machinery and equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity including housekeeping of machine and surrounding areas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CNC Saw experience required 
  • Proven experience as a CNC machine operator with knowledge of cabinet component fabrication processes, machinery, and tools.
  • Knowledge of material types, characteristics, and fabrication techniques, including cutting, shaping, and finishing.
  • Attention to detail, precision, and craftsmanship in working with wood-based materials.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to lift, maneuver, and work with heavy sheet goods.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational training or certification CNC machine operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Understanding of equipment operation manuals, technical specifications, and safety procedures.
