Quality Technician- Certified Weld Inspector

Salary Range: $40.80 To $43.27 Hourly

Roles and Responsibilities:

The QA Inspector โ€“ Senior Certified Authority serves as a fully qualified technical authority responsible for final inspection decisions, welding program oversight, NDT compliance, and overall quality assurance program integrity. This role ensures compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, contractual obligations, and industry codes while supporting manufacturing and marine production operations. Some of your daily functions will include:

  • Certified Inspection Authority: Perform final acceptance and rejection of welds in accordance with AWS, NAVSEA, customer specifications, and approved procedures. Review and accept or reject NDT results and sign certified inspection documentation. Exercise stop-work authority when quality requirements are not being met.
  • Codes, Standards, and Specifications: Interpret and apply the intent and requirements of applicable codes, standards, contract requirements, and customer specifications to ensure compliance throughout production.
  • Welding Program Oversight: Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), witness welder qualification and procedure qualification testing, and review or approve weld repair activities.
  • NDT Program Oversight: Verify qualifications and certifications of NDT personnel, review NDT reports for completeness and compliance, and ensure examinations are performed in accordance with approved procedures and applicable standards.
  • Inspection and Test Planning: Support the development and execution of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), verify compliance with hold points, witness points, and customer inspection requirements, and ensure inspection activities are properly documented.
  • Receiving and Traceability Oversight: Oversee receiving inspection activities, verify material certifications, maintain traceability requirements, and ensure compliance with quality management system procedures.
  • Dimensional and Mechanical Inspection: Lead inspections of complex fabricated assemblies and welded structures, verify critical dimensions and tolerances, and support acceptance testing activities.
  • Documentation and Deliverables: Review and approve quality documentation packages, ensure contractual deliverables and CDRL requirements are met, and maintain audit-ready quality records.
  • Nonconformance and Corrective Action: Review and approve technical dispositions, participate in root cause investigations, and support implementation and verification of corrective actions.
  • Audit and Customer Interface: Interface directly with customers, auditors, regulatory agencies, NAVSEA representatives, and DCMA personnel. Participate in internal and external audits and support compliance reviews.

Quality Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to quality inspectors and production personnel while promoting continuous improvement and adherence to company quality standards.
