What is a Cerner Interface Engineer?

A Cerner Interface Engineer is a specialized IT professional who designs, develops, implements, and maintains interfaces that allow Cerner healthcare software systems to communicate with other healthcare applications, devices, and databases. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the seamless exchange of clinical and administrative data between Cerner and third-party systems, often using HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare integration standards. They also troubleshoot interface issues, perform testing, and work closely with clinical and technical teams to support interoperability in healthcare environments.

What are the main challenges Cerner Interface Engineers face when working on healthcare system integrations?
