They use CAD/CAM software and milling machines to create restorations in a single visit. Strong technical skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

What does a typical day look like for a dental professional specializing in CEREC technology?

A dental professional specializing in CEREC technology typically begins the day preparing digital impressions and discussing patient cases with dentists. Their daily responsibilities include scanning teeth, designing dental restorations on CAD software, and operating milling machines to produce crowns, bridges, or veneers, all within a streamlined digital workflow. These specialists frequently collaborate with both dentists and dental assistants to ensure restorations meet clinical and aesthetic standards. The work is hands-on, technology-driven, and often requires careful time management to balance multiple patient cases throughout the day. This dynamic environment provides valuable experience with cutting-edge dental solutions and opportunities to grow in the expanding field of digital dentistry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Cerec position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CEREC Specialist (CAD/CAM Dental Technician), you need a solid background in dental technology, digital dentistry, and experience with CAD/CAM design, typically supported by formal dental technician certifications or dental assisting credentials. Proficiency with CEREC software, intraoral scanners, and milling machines is essential for this role.
