Job description

Position: AVP, Underwriting

Location: Centris Headquarters (132nd & Pacific St)

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:30-5:00

The primary purpose of this position is to lead Centris Federal Credit Union in our mission to be a trusted life-long financial partner. The AVP, Underwriting is responsible for leading the Consumer and Mortgage Underwriting teams by maintaining sound underwriting and credit decisioning and ensuring the lending units operate in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the underwriting policies, procedures, and operational practices to support desired credit quality. This position manages the daily activities of the underwriting department through leadership, workflow management, and collaboration with other business units to ensure consistent member experience across the consumer and mortgage lending channels.

What You'll Do:
  • Ensure lending policies, procedures, and underwriting guidelines are appropriate to produce desired credit quality results.
  • Ensure consumer and mortgage loan business development and relationship management groups understand and develop business in accordance with lending policies and procedures, underwriting guidelines, and government regulations.

  • Ensure real estate appraisal functions are administered effectively and in concert with company policies and regulatory guidelines for the consumer and residential mortgage loan portfolios.
  • Execute lending authority within assigned approval limits and coordinate requests above authority level as required.
  • Create and/or develop long lasting, collaborate relationships with internal and external members, vendors, federal examiners, auditors and other business contacts.
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field; and/or additional related work experience.
  • 7 years progressive consumer and mortgage underwriting and lending experience with at least 2 years of experience lending or managing a team.

  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft and lending systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to mentor and develop employees.
