Overview

Titan America is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Plant Attendant to join our team at the Roanoke Cement Company in Troutville, Virginia. This position performs a variety of operational, maintenance, material handling, and general labor duties that support safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible cement manufacturing operations.

The Plant Attendant plays a critical role in maintaining production efficiency by operating equipment, supporting maintenance activities, handling materials, and assisting multiple departments throughout the plant. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to workplace safety, and the flexibility to work in a dynamic industrial environment.

This position offers a starting wage of $28.17 per hour. New employees will complete a 120-day probationary period during which the hourly rate will be $26.17 per hour. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, employees will transition to the full hourly rate.

ResponsibilitiesSafety and Compliance
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a "Safety First" culture by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety standards.
Operations
  • Perform general labor duties throughout multiple plant departments.
  • Operate and monitor equipment used in the cement manufacturing process, including conveyors, crushers, mills, and material handling systems.
  • Meet daily production schedules and document operational performance.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout assigned work areas.
Maintenance Support
  • Inspect equipment and identify abnormal operating conditions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with repairs, preventative maintenance, and plant outages.
  • Support equipment reliability through routine inspections.
Environmental Compliance
  • Follow environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Support dust control, emissions reduction, and spill prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and environmentally responsible manner.
Material Handling
  • Safely handle and transport raw materials, fuels, additives, and finished products.
  • Operate forklifts, loaders, or other mobile equipment as qualified and assigned.
  • Load and unload materials while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Teamwork and Communication
  • Work collaboratively with operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Communicate operational concerns, equipment issues, and safety observations promptly.
  • Contribute ideas for improving safety, productivity, and efficiency.
Training and Development
  • Participate in required training and certification programs.
  • Develop knowledge of cement manufacturing processes and plant operations.
  • Stay current on industry best practices and company procedures.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand technical manuals, procedures, and instructions.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, walking, and working in varying weather conditions.
