Job Title: Communications/Media Services Intern

Department: Communications/Media Services

Supervisor: VP, Public Relations

Job Type: Part-Time, 29 Hours per Week (September - December)


Summary:

The mission of the Boston Celtics internship program is to educate its participants in all aspects of operating a professional sports organization. Through observation and practical experience, interns learn how to function in a professional environment that requires a high energy level, the ability to perform under pressure and the utilization of essential time management skills. Through these developments, the Boston Celtics strive to successfully prepare their interns to compete for positions in the professional sports industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform various game-night duties including staffing of press gate, running stats and transcribing quotes
  • Update daily news clippings from various publication for ownership and management
  • Assist in set-up for game night media areas (credentialing, media seating)
  • Assist in assembling media information for visiting team media and national media for all games
  • Assist with staffing media events including press conferences and media availabilities at community events
  • Assist with editing media materials such as game night program information, press releases, media advisories and team media guide
  • Compile media tracking reports for internal and external uses
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:


  • Must be a junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate student
  • Academic Credit
  • Ability to work scheduled home games and events


The expected range of annual salary/hourly rate and potential commission, if applicable, is included below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this/these range(s) will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market and industry considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure, performance, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.

Hourly Rate Range: $15.00
