City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County's only cancer specialty hospital.
With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care-from prevention through survivorship-is now available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital features 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn't standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and visionary Nurse Manager to lead our growing Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant (HCT/BMT) and Cellular Therapy program. This leader will oversee the 7th Floor Transplant Unit while providing operational and clinical leadership for Immune Effector Cell (IEC) therapies, including CAR-T, across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership of the Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and Cellular Therapy nursing services. This position ensures the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with FACT accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based clinical practices.
Working in partnership with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, pharmacy, apheresis, stem cell processing, quality, and multidisciplinary leadership, the Nurse Manager will foster a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, safety, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. This leader will play a critical role in the continued growth and success of City of Hope's expanding Cellular Therapy and Blood & Marrow Transplant Program.
As a successful candidate, you will:
Clinical Leadership
- Provide 24-hour accountability for nursing operations of the inpatient Hematology/Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
- Provide nursing leadership for Immune Effector Cell (IEC) therapies, including CAR-T, across inpatient and outpatient care settings.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Ensure compliance with FACT, Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
- Lead initiatives focused on quality outcomes, patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical excellence.
Operational Leadership
- Direct daily clinical operations, staffing, patient throughput, scheduling, and resource management.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets while ensuring responsible financial stewardship.
- Utilize quality metrics and operational data to improve patient outcomes, efficiency, and performance.
- Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality improvement methodologies.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and retain a high-performing nursing team.
- Conduct performance evaluations, professional development planning, and succession planning.
- Foster employee engagement, accountability, collaboration, and a culture of belonging.
- Support specialty certification and continuing education for transplant and oncology nurses.
Cellular Therapy Program Leadership
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting CAR-T and other Immune Effector Cell therapies.
- Ensure operational readiness for expanding cellular therapy services.
- Support clinical pathways related to patient selection, treatment coordination, toxicity management, and survivorship.
- Participate in program development and strategic planning for future cellular therapy growth.
Quality & Regulatory
- Maintain readiness for FACT accreditation and regulatory surveys.

- Collaborate with physicians, research nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate the safe integration of clinical trials into patient care while ensuring protocol compliance and patient safety.
- Promote nursing engagement in research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice projects that advance transplant and cellular therapy outcomes.
- Encourage dissemination of best practices through presentations, publications, and participation in professional organizations and conferences.
- Partner with academic and clinical leaders to identify opportunities for innovation that enhance patient care, operational excellence, and the advancement of hematopoietic cell transplantation and immune effector cell therapies.
Collaboration
- Partner with physicians, clinical operations, quality, pharmacy, laboratory, apheresis, stem cell processing, case management, and ambulatory leadership.
- Participate in hospital-wide nursing leadership councils and strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a nursing leader during new program development and service expansion.
Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or BSN not required if holds MSN)
- Three (3) years of experience in an area of expertise relevant to the department with demonstrated progressive leadership growth.
- California RN license
- American Heart Association-Basic Life Support (BLS)
- National Nursing Certification (or must be acquired within 12 months of hire or transfer)
