The Costco Digital Services Division is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a twelve -week paid internship program during  2026. Interns will work within specific areas in Costco’s Information Systems Division. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided. The program runs mid June to early September and is located in Schaumburg, IL . No out of state work allowed. All interns will adhere to the CDS hybrid work model of three days onsite and two days remote.

Costco Logistics HighJump Development Team is dedicated to the development of cutting-edge warehouse management systems tailored specifically for the storage and delivery & installation of big and bulky items. With a focus on delivering efficient, scalable, and user-friendly solutions, we are committed to enhancing the operational capabilities of Costco's warehouse facilities.Our team is responsible for the end-to-end development of warehouse management systems, encompassing both front-end and back-end components. We leverage the latest technologies and best practices to ensure the seamless integration of our systems with Costco's existing infrastructure. We utilize the capabilities of Microsoft Azure's cloud , HighJump and Microsoft SQL Server to design and maintain databases that underpin the warehouse management systems.We are constantly exploring innovative approaches to solve complex challenges related to warehouse management, striving to introduce new features and improvements that elevate operational efficiency. Our team fosters a culture of collaboration, where every member's expertise is valued, and collective problem-solving leads to comprehensive and effective solutions.

NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program. During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks.

  • Develops solutions to specifications on time, within budget and with an impeccable degree of quality and precision to specification.
  • Prepares and clearly communicates best in class methods by which Costco Logistics operations can effectively utilize the enhancements developed 
  • Interacts with other developers, operations, Product Owners, and Business Solutions Analysts to ensure that the technical solution offers scale and supports business needs.
  • Creates and maintains documentation standards.
Required:
  • 1+ years’ experience with relational database development using SQL Server/Oracle.
  • 1+ years of T-SQL experience.
  • Ability to develop a scalable and high performing solution aligning with Enterprise Architecture guidelines.
  • Strong documentation skills that will be used to create process flow designs, key design decision documents and technical/functional reference guides.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized.
  • Currently maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.
Recommended: 
  • Experience with Java/Spring Boot.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming patterns.
  • Experience with REST Web Services/API calls.
  • SQL Service Broker / JSON expertise.
  • Working knowledge of any Git/Github/Jenkins/Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in an Agile development methodology.
  • Experience in designing and developing using HighJump/Korber product suite(Webwise Page Editor/ Advantage Architect)
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
