Southway Crane & Rigging, Inc.

Position: CDL Truck Driver

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports to: Branch Manager

Southway is looking to add experienced full-time truck drivers to our growing Branch. The following are a list of requirements; You must meet all the requirements below to be considered for this position.

Southway is offering our employees a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package which include health benefits, paid vacation, per diem, and the opportunity to work plenty hours of overtime. We are always looking for individuals with the talent and skills required to contribute to our continued growth and success.

Summary: Candidate must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience. You must be able to pass a background check and drug test. All candidates will perform a skills verification test on site before hire.

Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload cargo.
  • Record amount and type of cargo being delivered.
  • Take orders for new deliveries and drive long distances.
  • Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows.
  • Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road.
  • Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion.
  • Follow all applicable traffic laws.
  • Inspect their trailer before and after the trip and record any defects they find.
  • Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs.
  • Keep a log of their activities.
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order

Qualifications: 

•    Must have a current state issued Class A CDL Driver's License (No Automatic Endorsement).
•    3 years of commercial driving experience

Skills Required

•    Ability to interpret, read manuals, and write reports in English.
•    Mechanical and analytical skills preferred.
•    Ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines.
•    Ability to provide proper hand signals to crane and truck operators.
•    Ability to verbally communicate Safety issues to Customers and other workers on location before and during job task.
•    Ability to work at heights and use all PPE required for fall protection correctly.
•    Ability to employ physiological movements and actions associated with heavy work.
•    Bending, stooping, lifting, seeing hearing, walking, ability to lift 75 lbs., twisting, crawling, climbing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and standing.
•    Eyesight sufficient for operating a motor vehicle, inspection of equipment, and completion paperwork.
•    Hearing sufficient for telephone contact and interpersonal communication with Customers and coworkers.
•    Other duties as assigned
