CDL Class A Driver

Location: Charleston, SC Job Type: Full-Time | Hourly

Main Industries is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Class A CDL Driver to join our Hampton, Virginia team. This position plays an essential role in supporting our marine and industrial operations by transporting equipment and materials safely and efficiently.

Pay: $26.00–$32.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications.

Please Note: This position is based in Charleston, SC. Relocation assistance and per diem are not available.

What You'll Do

As a CDL Driver, you'll play a critical role in supporting our operations by safely transporting equipment and materials while assisting with warehouse and scaffold operations as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Safely transport equipment and materials to and from customer job sites and company facilities.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure safe operating condition.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and report mechanical issues.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate DOT logs and required documentation.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations and company safety policies.
  • Load and unload trucks safely.
  • Verify delivery instructions and paperwork.
  • Report accidents, violations, or equipment defects promptly.
  • Assist with scaffold loading, unloading, inventory, racking, stacking, and material handling when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • Minimum two (2) years of commercial driving experience.
  • Clean driving record with no recent moving violations.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Experience using GPS and other transportation technology.
  • Ability to work independently and safely.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must meet all applicable federal and state requirements to operate a commercial motor vehicle.
Physical Requirements

This position requires work in an active industrial environment. Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
  • Work in physically demanding conditions.
  • Climb and work at heights of 50+ feet.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Understand and comply with all posted safety signs, warnings, and job site requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current TWIC Credential or the ability to obtain one if required for assigned work.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified after hire.
  • Experience working in marine, shipyard, construction, or industrial environments.
Additional Requirements
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully completing any required pre-employment screenings, including background and drug screening, where permitted by law.
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and occasional night shifts based on project requirements. Overtime opportunities may be available but are not guaranteed.
