Job description

Syndeo Staffing is searching for the right person to join a family-owned ag-fertilizer supply company as a CDL Driver in El Dorado, KS. This is a direct hire opportunity.
CDL drivers are responsible for delivering freight safely and promptly while obeying all Federal and State Department of Transportation regulations and laws regarding operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle. Drivers must be able to reliably commute to and from El Dorado, KS, and travel 100% of the time.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Pay: $17-$22 / hour BOE + freight incentive pay
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer truck and/or flatbed.
  • Transport goods and materials to designated locations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment, such as forklifts or heavy machinery.
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
  • Comply with all DOT and FMCSA regulations while driving.
  • Inspect vehicles before and after each trip to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment used on the job.
  • Communicate with dispatchers and other team members to coordinate deliveries and pick-ups.
  • Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and delivery/pick-up times.
  • Perform routine basic preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Comply with ICC and DOT regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years old at the time of employment due to Interstate regulations
  • Valid CDL Class A Driver's License
  • Must have or be willing and able to obtain a tanker endorsement
  • Must have a clean driving record, that is, no DUI's and no more than 3 moving violations in the previous 5 years
Required Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Federal and State Department of Transportation laws and regulations
  • Proven experience as a Truck Driver
Skills/Abilities:
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be reliable to maintain an irregular work schedule
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and a drug screen and possess a valid medical certification

Working Conditions:
OTR, regional, and local pick-ups and delivery. This will often mean extended time away from home, including overnight and frequent weekends.
