Company Overview
Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years have expanded throughout the Midwest.
Job Summary
The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.
Hours and Wages
  • Monday- Friday, 7:30AM- completion of route
  • May be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs
  • 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week
  • Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
  • Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
  • Starting wage: $24.00- $28.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs
  • Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed
  • Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
  • Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
  • Collect payments as needed
  • Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
  • Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
  • Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
  • Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
  • Travel may be required
  • Perform other required duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
  • Must possess good customer service and organizational skills

Education and Experience
  • At least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
  • Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
