Job description

Headstart Hatching is seeking a reliable and safety focus CDL Driver to join the team. The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting agricultural products including but not limited to day old poults, egg delivery, and feed in a timely and safe manner. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to safety, excellent customer service and driving skills

The CDL Driver responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Transporting day old poults & eggs.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading trucks
  • Within this process will be the expectation of consistent cleanliness, animal welfare standards and bio-security policies being upheld. 
  • CDL Driver carries out all directives in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections
  • Fully licensed to drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
  • Ensure contents are properly secured in truck, flatbed to prevent damage/injury.
  • Stay on predetermined route and ensure timely transport and delivery.
  • Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents or delays promptly.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers and team members
  • Follow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
  • Maintain detailed driving and delivery logs.
  • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions.
  • Comply with DOT regulations.
Make safety a priority at all times

  • Communication skills to effectively work with a variety of people, supervisors, employees and departments

Experience
  • 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission (preferred).
Education/Credentials
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) required with proper endorsements.
Schedule
  • Core business hours: Monday – Friday 5 am to 3:30 pm, or until deliveries are complete
  • Saturdays and Holidays as needed.
Other
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations.
  • Must pass background check, MVR and DOT requirements. 
  • Experience with live animals, egg handling, or feed transport preferred.
