Job description

Heart of America Beverage is seeking energetic candidates to join our delivery team in Joplin as a driver helper. If you enjoy a fast paced and dynamic environment, this job may be for you. The most fun part? We sell beer for a living! Our culture is made up of people who are passionate about beer and passionate about fun. Hourly rate of pay is $16.00 per hour.

The Driver Helper’s primary responsibility is to assist the delivery drivers with their duties on the assigned route.   This will include unloading product at delivery locations, render merchandising services, maintaining back stock rotation and moving close dated product as directed. 

Optional: Driver Helper can be considered for a Class A CDL training program and will be encouraged to obtain a Class A permit within 90 days of hire and a Class A license within 90 days of receiving the permit. The Class A CDL training is conducted in house by a company trainer. The starting salary for a Class A CDL driver is $50,000 plus a commission and bonus structure.

Driver Helper Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned by team lead and assigned driver as necessary.

  • Unloading product at account
  • Placing and rotating product

  • Must be able to take directions
  • Other duties as needed by driver

Driver Helper Primary Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods; sit for extended periods while driving; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, balance, crawl, or crouch; lift above head; lift heavy items, up to 40 pounds on a regular basis and frequently up to a 185-pound keg; regularly push/pull 250 pounds with the assistance of a two-wheel dolly, product cart or other mobile equipment; tolerate going back and forth from hot to cold temperatures; climb up and down from cab and trailer of truck; and talk, see, and hear.
  • Must have a valid and clean driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
  • This position requires that the driver helper to have a strong work ethic, be detail oriented, quality focused, self-motivated, and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • The driver helper must be at least 18 years of age to work with alcohol and at 21 years of age to participate in the driver training program.
  • The driver helper must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment; and the flexibility to work weekends as needed.
