Job description

Job Purpose:
Our CDL Truck Driver will be responsible for driving tractor trailer truck or vans to transport, pick up and deliver products in loose packages to our customers.
Job Responsibilities:
• Drive to various destinations with approx. 15-20 stops daily.
• Maintain physical security of cargo to prevent shifting and damage; ensuring safety is your number one priority.
• Maintain truck log, per state and federal regulations.
• Inspect truck equipment and suppliers such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
• Drive vehicle to transport items from warehouse to plant or pick up items from several locations for shipment Pickup/Delivery.
• Maintain phone contact with supervisor and/or dispatch to receive pick-up and delivery instructions.
• Prepare receipts and collect payment for goods delivered and delivery charges when required.
• Pick up product at customers and suppliers and check delivered product and quantities for accuracy.
• Operate auxiliary equipment mounted on trucks such as hydraulics, hoists, etc.
• Convey material and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas - using dedicated machinery.
• Sort and place materials or items on racks shelves, or bins per predetermined sequence such size, type, style, color or product code.
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items.
• Mark materials with identifying information and record the amount of materials or items received or distributed.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:
• Must observe all Department of Transportation and driving regulations resulting in a safe driving record and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
• Must have a valid Class A CDL.
• Position requires a minimum of 21 years of age.
• Forklift certified preferred but not required.
Work Experience:
• Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail skills are required.
• Verifiable Class A license and 12+ months driving experience compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Education:
• High School Diploma/GED Preferred
Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position includes:
• Regularly working in outside weather conditions, exposure to extremes of temperature, visibility, wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations.
• Exposure to loud noise.
• Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.
The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented and changed as necessary.
• Ability to frequently lift, twist and turn, and carry 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment, and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
• Ability to repetitively open and close shipping container doors weighing approximately 500 pounds, swing doors weighing approximately 300 pounds, and operate a lift gate.
• Walking/Standing - frequent walking and standing. Standing may be on the ground or while operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• Sitting - frequent sitting including at stationary locations and while driving.
• Stooping - periodic stooping including need to bend at the waist.
• Kneeling on occasion.
• Climbing - frequent climbing, including need to get in and out of the cab and trailer of the truck as well as ability to climb and use 3 points of contact method.
