What are CDL B drivers?

CDL B drivers are licensed commercial drivers who operate vehicles that weigh more than 26,000 pounds but do not tow trailers over 10,000 pounds. These drivers typically handle vehicles such as straight trucks, large buses, dump trucks, and delivery trucks. To obtain a CDL B license, individuals must pass both written and skills tests specific to the vehicles they intend to drive. CDL B drivers play a crucial role in transportation, delivery, construction, and public transit industries.

CDL B drivers often encounter challenges such as navigating urban traffic, adhering to strict delivery schedules, and handling frequent loading and unloading of cargo. Staying organized and proactive in vehicle inspections also helps minimize delays and ensures safety compliance. Many employers provide ongoing training and support to help drivers address these issues effectively.
