Position Summary

The DMS Application Manager (CDK) is responsible for the administration, optimization, and support of the CDK Dealer Management System across all dealership locations. This role serves as the primary owner of CDK operations, vendor coordination, user management, integrations, and system performance. The ideal candidate ensures system stability, drives standardization across stores, and works cross-functionally with Accounting, Sales, Service, Parts, and Executive leadership to maximize DMS efficiency and ROI.


Key Responsibilities

DMS Ownership & Administration

  • Serve as the primary administrator and subject-matter expert for CDK DMS.
  • Manage user roles, permissions, security access, and store configurations.
  • Oversee module setup including accounting, sales, service, parts, payroll, and reporting.
  • Maintain standardized processes across all dealerships.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate IT and security policies.

System Optimization & Support

  • Monitor system performance, errors, and operational issues.
  • Troubleshoot DMS-related issues and coordinate resolution with CDK support.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Lead testing, upgrades, and new module rollouts.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and training materials.

Vendor & Project Management

  • Act as primary liaison between the organization and CDK.
  • Manage support tickets, escalations, and contract discussions.
  • Coordinate new store onboarding, migrations, and acquisitions.
  • Oversee integrations with third-party systems (CRM, Payroll, OEM tools, etc.).
  • Track licensing, billing, and usage.

Training & User Support

  • Provide training for new hires and departments.
  • Support power users and department managers.
  • Develop quick-reference guides and workflows.
  • Drive adoption of best practices across locations.

Reporting & Data Integrity

  • Ensure accurate financial and operational data flow.
  • Support accounting month-end and reporting processes.
  • Maintain data integrity across all stores.
  • Generate executive reports and dashboards as needed.
