Familiarity with coding software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and classification tools like ICD-10-CM and CPT is essential. Clinical Documentation Specialists often navigate challenges such as bridging communication gaps between healthcare providers and ensuring documentation accuracy under tight deadlines. They must stay updated on rapidly changing coding regulations and clinical guidelines, which can be demanding.
