Job description

Supervising Therapist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Supervising Therapist, who is passionate about delivering high quality care, to join our integrative and collaborative outpatient psychiatry practice in Roswell, GA! At Hightop Health, our goal is to establish a new standard for a positive and supportive culture, allowing therapists to truly thrive in their practice so that the patients served will maximally benefit from treatment.

Our clinician-centric approach is at the core of our mission. We believe that when our clinicians, providers, and support staff feel valued and connected, patient outcomes are maximized. We value your professional development through collaboration, and access to a community of renowned clinical leaders, passionate peers, and supportive business partners who manage the administrative components of your practice so you can focus on patient care.

The Supervising Therapist provides high-quality psychotherapy services and clinical leadership within Hightop Health's interdisciplinary care model. This role delivers comprehensive assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and provides evidence-based individual and group therapy within scope of licensure. In addition to direct clinical care, the Supervising Therapist oversees and supervises a team of therapists (including provisionally licensed clinicians and interns as applicable), ensuring consistent clinical standards, ethical practice, strong documentation, and a reliable patient experience across therapy services.

The Supervising Therapist supports structured group programming (including CBT groups using the Beck manualized treatment curriculum or other Hightop Healthโ€“approved curricula as applicable) and partners closely with clinical leadership to promote quality, continuity, and accreditation readiness. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with Hightop Health policies and procedures; applicable laws and regulations; payer requirements; and accreditation standards (including those of The Joint Commission, as applicable), with particular attention to patient safety, ethical practice, confidentiality, and timely documentation.

Core Role Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based psychotherapy services that are patient-centered, ethical, and focused on meaningful clinical outcomes as an independently licensed clinician.
  • Maintain an outpatient caseload, providing psychotherapy (typically once weekly per patient, as clinically indicated), while balancing leadership and supervision responsibilities.
  • Lead and/or support structured group therapy programming, including CBT groups using an approved manualized curriculum, as assigned.
  • Provide clinical supervision, consultation, and oversight to a team of therapists to promote high-quality care, consistent documentation, and adherence to scope-of-practice requirements.
  • Collaborate actively with interdisciplinary teammates and clinical leadership to support coordinated care, appropriate treatment planning, and strong patient experience standards.

Clinical Supervision, Oversight & Team Leadership

  • Provide structured clinical supervision (individual and/or group) to assigned therapists, consistent with licensure regulations, organizational policy, and supervision requirements.
  • Support supervisees in clinical assessment, diagnosis (as applicable), treatment planning, evidence-based intervention selection, and risk assessment/escalation.
  • Review clinical documentation and treatment plans as needed to support quality, medical necessity, payer expectations, and consistent clinical standards; provide timely, actionable feedback.
  • Offer case consultation and coaching to support skill development, clinical judgment, professional boundaries, and ethical practice.
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of therapists, including orientation to workflows, documentation standards, and group programming expectations.
  • Provide input on staffing, caseload distribution, and clinical coverage to support patient access, continuity of care, and team sustainability.
  • Identify performance concerns (clinical quality, documentation, professionalism, reliability) and partner with leadership/HR as appropriate on coaching plans and corrective action processes.

Clinical Assessment, Treatment Planning & Individual Therapy

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to evaluate mental health and substance use needs, including diagnostic impressions as appropriate to licensure and role scope.
  • Develop individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the interdisciplinary treatment team, incorporating patient goals and evidence-based approaches.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based interventions tailored to patient needs, including modalities such as CBT, DBT-informed interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and other approaches as clinically appropriate.
  • Monitor patient progress, reassess clinical needs, and adjust treatment plans to reflect outcomes, barriers, and evolving goals.
  • Identify safety concerns and clinical risks (e.g., suicidality, self-harm, worsening symptoms, substance use risk) and respond per protocol, including appropriate escalation, safety planning, and documentation.

Group Therapy & Psychoeducation Programming

  • Facilitate CBT groups using a manualized curriculum (e.g., Beck) as assigned, ensuring fidelity to the model and appropriate documentation of group content and participation.
  • Lead psychoeducational and skills-based groups focused on mental health stabilization and recovery, coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse prevention, interpersonal effectiveness, and functional improvement.
  • Create a safe, structured, and therapeutically effective group environment; manage group dynamics and support participant engagement.
  • Support consistency of group programming across therapists through coaching, observation (as appropriate), and curriculum guidance.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration & Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, and other clinical team members to support coordinated care, clinical handoffs, and timely communication regarding patient needs.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, case conferences, and care planning discussions to support quality and continuity of care.
  • Support appropriate referrals, care coordination, and level-of-care planning consistent with patient needs, organizational protocols, and scope of practice.
  • Communicate clinical updates professionally and promptly, including coordination around risk concerns and treatment plan changes.

Documentation, Compliance & Quality

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record consistent with payer requirements, medical necessity, and organizational standards.
  • Ensure documentation reflects clinical reasoning, progress toward goals, risk assessment when indicated, and clear treatment planning.
  • Promote documentation quality across the therapy team through guidance, review, training, and consistent expectations.
  • Follow all confidentiality and privacy requirements (HIPAA and Hightop Health policies) and maintain professional boundaries in all patient interactions.
  • Complete required compliance, privacy (HIPAA), safety, and role-specific trainings within designated timeframes.
  • Support survey readiness and accreditation expectations by adhering to required documentation elements, timeliness standards, and completion of required trainings.

Professional Development & Program Improvement

  • Participate in ongoing training and review of evidence-based practices to support clinical quality and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the improvement of therapy workflows, group programming, and patient experience through feedback, process refinement, and outcomes-informed adjustments.
  • Support a learning culture by modeling professionalism, ethical practice, reliable communication, and patient-centered care.
