What is a cavalry?

Cavalry refers to soldiers who fought on horseback, traditionally used in warfare for their speed, mobility, and ability to charge enemy lines or conduct reconnaissance. Historically, cavalry units played a crucial role in battles by disrupting infantry formations and pursuing retreating forces. Today, the term is sometimes used more broadly to describe modern armored or mechanized units that fulfill similar roles with vehicles instead of horses. Over time, the function and composition of cavalry have evolved with changes in military technology.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a cavalry soldier?

To thrive as a Cavalry Soldier, you need physical fitness, tactical awareness, and proficiency in mounted or armored vehicle operations, typically achieved through military training and completion of basic and advanced cavalry courses. Familiarity with navigation systems, communication equipment, and weapons systems is essential for mission success. Strong teamwork, resilience under pressure, and adaptability are critical soft skills in this demanding role. These abilities ensure operational effectiveness, safety, and cohesive unit performance in dynamic and challenging environments.

What are some common challenges faced by cavalry soldiers, and how are they addressed in training and on the field?
