Job description

QA Engineer I / SDET

In Time Tec Meridian, Idaho, United States

About this position

In Time Tec, a global software solutions company based in Meridian, Idaho, is hiring a full-time QA Engineer I / SDET. Founded in 2009, In Time Tec is committed to creating abundance for our partners, employees, stakeholders, and the community. We partner with clients, often working onsite in their offices to explore and understand business requirements to deliver long-term custom software services. We are recognized as one of Inc. 5000's fastest-growing privately-held companies and have been named as one of the Best Places to Work in Idaho for five consecutive years.

In Time Tec offers competitive compensation, health/vision/dental benefits, 401k, FSAs, tenure-based paid time off, and countless personal and professional development opportunities.

Those who thrive at In Time Tec are focused first and foremost on people and making a difference for others. They are committed to and have a passion for learning their craft and developing themselves as leaders. Competency to deliver and perform is required. Work is seen as a vehicle to create abundance for our partners, teams, families, and community.

Those who need predictability, clearly defined roadmaps, consistent direction, and a set schedule may find In Time Tec's work environment challenging.

In order to embrace these aspects, they encourage exploring blogs, podcasts, reviews.

NextGenAgTech with In Time Tec builds web and mobile software used to operate feedlots, manage cattle purchasing and transportation, and maintain financial records used by owners and lenders. Our products support yard operations, animal health, billing, financing, logistics, and reporting across web, iOS, and Android.

The testing challenge is consequential: a defect can affect an operator’s books, an animal-health workflow, or a time-sensitive decision in the yard. We are expanding QA capacity while building automation that helps us release faster without accepting greater operational or financial risk.

The role

You will work with developers, product owners, and senior QA staff to find risk early, test new features, and build dependable regression coverage. You will own testing for a defined product area and grow that scope as your product knowledge deepens.

You will not spend all your time following manual scripts. You will exercise judgment through exploratory testing and help move repeatable regression coverage into Playwright and API automation. Senior QA staff are available for mentorship and code review, and we expect you to use them.

What you will do
  • Plan and execute risk-based manual testing for features, integrations, and defect fixes.
  • Add and maintain automated tests for web, API, and — over time — mobile workflows.
  • Identify scenarios, edge cases, and acceptance criteria with developers and product managers.
  • Write clear, reproducible defect reports and verify fixes.
  • Log, triage, and track defects in the team’s issue-tracking system through resolution.
  • Validate API behavior, payloads, status codes, and relevant database results.
  • Run and maintain regression coverage in the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Review AI-assisted test drafts and generated automation for correctness and missing coverage.
  • Suggest practical improvements to test coverage, tooling, and the team’s quality process.
What you would test
  • Yard operations, including lots, pens, feed delivery, commodities, animal-health records, and treatments.
  • Financial workflows, including billing, interest, loans, payments, statements, hedges, and lender-facing reporting.
  • Purchasing andlogistics, including cattle records, hauling, dispatch, and automated notifications.
  • Customer workflows across web, iOS, and Android in English and Spanish.
What success looks like

In your first90 days, you own testing for a defined product area, run its regression coverage reliably, and produce defect reports engineers can act on without follow-up.

Within six months, you contribute maintainable Playwright and API tests that pass review, and you shape acceptance criteria and edge cases alongside developers and product managers.

Within one year, you plan and execute testing independently for features in your area, expand automated coverage in CI, and contribute to the team’s testing conventions.

What you bring
  • This role requires at least two years of experience in software quality assurance or a related technical role.
  • Relevant internships, co-op assignments, and comparable hands-on experience may count toward this requirement.
  • A working understanding of test cases, regression, smoke testing, exploratory testing, and black-box versus white-box approaches.
  • The ability to describe a defect clearly, isolate what happened, and communicate evidence.
  • Experience with at least one test-automation framework, such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
  • Programming or scripting experiencein TypeScript, Python, C#,ora comparablelanguage.
  • API and SQL knowledge sufficient tovalidatebehavior and data.
  • Comfort using Git and working within a CI/CD workflow.
  • A quality-first mindset and genuine comfort asking, "What happens if?"
Helpful, not required
  • Mobile application testing or exposure to Appium.
  • Postman, REST Assured, Cucumber, or Gherkin.
  • Docker,BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or similar test environments.
  • Experience with agriculture, finance, logistics, oranother operational domain.
  • Relevantsoftware-testingorcomputer-sciencecoursework, bootcamp training, or certification.
Technology

Our core testing environment includes Playwright, Postman, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure SQL, Docker, and AI-assisted test authoring.
