Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Priest, you will provide essential sacramental, spiritual, and emotional care to patients, families, and staff, aligning with our mission.
Every day you will respond on-call to administer emergency sacraments, meticulously document ministry encounters, attend department meetings, and collaboratively provide excellent patient care while adhering to all policies.
To be successful in this role, you will operate with compassion and professionalism during emergencies, complete all mandatory training, and strictly comply with HIPAA and corporate security policies regarding confidential patient information

  • Provides for sacramental needs across the hospitals to include the Sacrament of Reconciliation; Sacrament of the Sick (anointing) and daily mass.
  • Provides spiritual and emotional care to patients, their families as well as hospital staff. Provides pastoral care and counseling consistent with the plan of treatment developed for each patient.
  • Provides for and participates in hospital dedication/blessing ceremonies as well as provide religious ritual/services for patients, families, staff and volunteers as requested and appropriate.
  • Triages patient needs and completes initial visits to newly admitted patients in a timely manner, including documenting comprehensive spiritual assessments and care plans. Completes an average of 12 substantive patient care visits per 8-hour shift. Assists patients in completing advance directive paperwork.
  • Participates regularly in patient rounds on the units to which he/she is assigned.
  • Takes an active role in addressing concerns with patients, families, other health professionals and physicians by participating in clinical case and family conferences.

  • Master's Degree
  • Successful completion of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education
  • At least one year of supervised hospital chaplain experience, which may includeClinical Pastoral Education
  • Catholic Chaplain, within 24 - months
