Director of Religious Education - Bilingual (English/Spanish)
St. Augustine Parish | Chesterfield, VA | Full-Time
St. Augustine Parish, a vibrant and growing Catholic community in Chesterfield, VA - approximately 75% Hispanic with strong Central American roots - is seeking a full-time, bilingual Director of Religious Education (DRE) to lead our catechetical and sacramental formation programs.
If you're passionate about accompanying families in the faith, fluent in English and Spanish, and energized by ministry in a culturally rich, bicultural parish, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Lead religious education programs (PreK-12) in both English and Spanish
Coordinate sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation
Oversee OCIA/RCIA for adults and children
Recruit, train, and support catechists and volunteers
Partner with families and parish ministries to build a welcoming faith community
Prepare bilingual communications and program materials
Requirements
  • Practicing Catholic with solid knowledge of Church doctrine and sacramental life

  • Fully bilingual - English/Spanish, written and spoken

  • 2-3+ years of catechetical, teaching, or parish ministry experience

  • Strong cultural sensitivity toward Hispanic and Central American traditions

  • Comfortable recruiting and leading volunteers
