Catholic Tech information

What is a Catholic Tech?

A Catholic Tech job refers to a role that combines technology with Catholic values, mission, or ministry. These jobs can be in Catholic organizations, churches, schools, or startups that use technology to serve the faith community. Roles may include web development, IT support, digital evangelization, software engineering, or managing church technology systems. The goal is to use technology ethically and effectively to support Catholic teachings and outreach.

What do Catholic Techs do?

As a Catholic Tech, you may be responsible for maintaining parish websites, managing livestreams of services, setting up audiovisual equipment for events, and supporting staff with software or hardware issues. Projects can range from launching digital campaigns for church outreach to implementing new management systems for parish operations. You’ll often collaborate closely with ministry leaders, volunteers, and administrative personnel to ensure technology serves both spiritual and organizational goals. The work environment tends to be community-focused, with opportunities to make a direct impact on both internal processes and parishioner engagement.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Catholic Tech?

To excel as a Catholic Tech, you need a strong background in information technology, digital communications, or web development, coupled with an understanding of Catholic culture, values, and organizational needs. Familiarity with content management systems, social media platforms, web analytics, and audiovisual equipment is often required, along with credentials such as a bachelor's degree in IT or a related field. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills set candidates apart, especially when supporting clergy and ministry staff. These abilities are important for effectively integrating technology into faith-based initiatives while maintaining alignment with Catholic mission and community expectations.
