These labs have diagnostic imaging equipment that is used to evaluate heart health by allowing health care providers to see the arteries and chambers of a heart. Various people may work in a cath lab, such as a catheterization laboratory nurse, a laboratory technician, and a doctor of cardiology. People in these positions hold various responsibilities in the examination and diagnostic process. To thrive as a Cath Lab Technologist, you need a solid background in cardiovascular anatomy, interventional procedures, and radiologic technology, typically supported by an associate’s degree and ARRT or RCIS certification. Familiarity with imaging equipment, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and sterile techniques is essential. Attention to detail, strong teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies are vital for ensuring patient safety, accurate diagnostics, and effective collaboration during high-stakes cardiac procedures.

What degree do you need to work in a cath lab?
