Job description

Job Requirements

Position Summary

The Cardiac Cath Technologist - Registered, under the direction of the Cardiac Cath / EP Lab manager, is responsible for assisting in the care of the patient having invasive procedures utilizing knowledge and skills to provide age-specific and culturally-appropriate patient care based on the principles of growth and development. (Age ranges include adolescents, early, middle and late adults.) Participates in patient and staff education and demonstrates leadership.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of Accredited Cardiovascular School, Graduate of an Accredited program of Surgical Technology, Graduate of an Accredited program of Radiologic Technology, Graduate of an Accredited program of Respiratory Technology

Experience

  • RCIS new graduate
  • CST, RRT 12 months - work experience. 

 

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with LLR (must be obtained within 1 year of hire)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist
  • Radiologic Technologist Registered

 Core Job Responsibilities

  • Provides pre / post procedure teaching to patient and family, including use of teaching aids. (Preceptor to new staff in the teaching aids available.)
  • Implements principles of infection control and complies with hospital and department policies. (Preps and drapes patient, wears dedicated Cath Lab clothes, shoes, mask and hat, uses personal protective equipment, adheres to isolation precautions and acts as a preceptor for new staff, utilizes basic aseptic technique in all aspects of performance and is monitored by all team members.)
  • On-call emergency response will be 30 minutes from notification. This is time outside the normal working hours and assigned by the department manager. Employee will clock in as callback (2) for call procedures.
  • Competent in and precepts new staff in using the Witt computer to document or capture procedure log, hemodynamic data, sedation log and inventory lists. Completes Q.C. of crash cart/defibrillator, Hemochron Jr., Avoximeter and contrast warmer in each room daily.
  • Maintains adequate supplies necessary for the performance of procedures.
  • Cath Labs are cleaned and stocked with the necessary supplies daily.
  • Communicates when PMM purchases are needed.
  • Communicates with inventory tech when supplies are needed.
  • Other Duties As Assigned
