Job description


Responsible for initiating and implementing recruitment and retention activities to expand the blood donor base for the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program by educating the community about blood donation and engaging with individuals and local organizations. Assists with strategic marketing, communication, and graphic design for the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program. Assists in the implementation and evaluation of Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program marketing and recruitment strategies; ensuring messages are effective, accurate, and timely. Networks with local businesses and organizations, pursues community events and conference opportunities, responds to ambassador needs, creates graphic and web design material, and engages with radio and news media. Creates and implements communication and marketing plans to ensure they align with the organization's and Blood Donor Program mission. Promotes a productive, collegial workplace and projects a professional image as an ambassador for the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program. Must be proficient with social media platforms, information technology, management of databases, and internet applications while maintaining brand standards. Will be assigned to various projects as necessary. This position requires occasional travel and the flexibility to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic**

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications or marketing and two years of communication and marketing experience. Master's degree in business, public relations, communications, or marketing will be accepted in lieu of experience. Prior experience in the blood banking industry is preferred. Must have the ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view, self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized. Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies is also required. Requires excellent skills in oral and written communications, critical thinking and active listening. Must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences. Ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. On-the-job training is provided for additional technical skills. Valid driver's license required.
This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, MN for quarterly on-site expectations.
