Summary
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:

The basic function of this role includes: performing preventative maintenance and repairs to equipment throughout the plant and support efforts of Welder, Mechanic. Tasks include welding, mechanics, and fabrication. Welding will be the primary responsibility of the welder position. However, if welding work is not available, the welder will perform tasks associated with a mechanic's role.
Duties and Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following: (Management reserves the right to add or modify the duties and responsibilities at any time.)
  • Supports efforts of Welding, Mechanic role.
  • Inspect machinery to ensure proper function.
  • Communicate with machine operators to troubleshoot, identified problems.
  • Notify plant area of work to be performed to get area locked out and obtain appropriate permits.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on and lubricate equipment.
  • Perform lock-out tag-out test.
  • Repair malfunctioning or broken equipment, including but not limited to screen plant, process equipment, general plant equipment, conveyor systems, forklifts, haul trucks, Cat loader, Cat scalers, manlifts, etc.
  • Repair equipment containing hydraulics, motors, pneumatics, belts, pumps and gear boxes.
  • Perform welding, including stick, MIG, plasma cutter, and oxygen/acetylene torch, in flat, vertical or overhead positions to repair or modify machinery and equipment.
  • Perform rigging
  • Fabricate machine guards to improve operational safety of machinery and equipment.
  • Fabricate hoppers for materials.
  • Mentor/train new maintenance employees.
  • Prepare paperwork associated with job assignment, job status, and job completion including work orders, and preventive maintenance checklist.
  • Operate forklift, cherry picker, skid steer, manlifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Testing & Requirements:
Employees applying to the welder position will be required to qualify by successfully completing a welding test.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or completion of Apprenticeship Program or Technical Trade School and 4 years' experience in maintenance field or industrial environment
  • Basic knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining stationary equipment: Conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, screens and other mine infrastructure.
  • Ability to comply with company and MSHA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work in team environments

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Applications; ability to learn new software programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, working at heights/high altitudes and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration.
