Job description

Position: Lead Driver

Position Hours: Casual

Location: North Woods School Cook, MN
Wage: $2,750 annual stipend
Benefits:ย Benefits are contingent upon the number of hours worked per week. Please refer to the applicable collective bargaining agreement available on the district website for detailed benefit information.ย 

Position Description

The Lead Bus Driver provides leadership and support to bus drivers and assists in coordinating transportation operations at the designated school location. This position works closely with the Transportation Director, building principal, and school office to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation.

Essential Duties

  • Schedule and coordinate the master schedule of extra bus trips and times for the designated school location.
  • Maintain a current master transportation schedule for the school office.
  • Report emergencies, delays, vehicle damage, accidents, or other incidents to the Transportation Director.
  • Assist the Transportation Director with the distribution of transportation department communications.
  • Coordinate with the building principal and the Transportation Director to complete annual student bus evacuation drills as required by Minnesota statutes.
  • Collect and submit required evacuation drill reports to the Transportation Director.
  • Conduct driver pre-trip evaluations as assigned.
  • Ride along with each regular driver and substitute driver once per year to evaluate driving performance and report results to the Transportation Director.
  • Provide leadership and support to bus drivers and substitute drivers.
  • Serve as a point of contact between drivers, the school office, building administration, and the Transportation Director.
  • Assist with addressing transportation questions, concerns, and scheduling needs.
  • Promote safe and efficient student transportation practices.
  • Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: ย 

  • Valid Minnesota Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT physical, drug test, and alcohol screening.
