Job description

Constellium is seeking interns to aid with Metallurgical Engineering projects at our Ravenswood, WV location for the Summer 2027 term.
Applicants must be pursuing a degree in Materials Science or Metallurgy.
The Material Science Engineering Intern would work for one of the metallurgist in the Process Development Metallurgy section of the Quality Department at Ravenswood. This role provides exposure to work with a wide variety of roles within and outside of the facility. Their main project would involve a cross-functional team that would like likely include several of the following groups:
  • The rest of the quality group
  • One or more of our 4 manufacturing units (casting, hot rolling, coil processing, or plate)
    • Process Engineers
    • Managers
    • Supervisors
    • Operators & technicians
  • Our research center and/or outside laboratories
  • Sales or Customer Application Engineers
  • Central Engineering
  • IT or Automated Systems Specialists
  • Supply Chain

This provides insight to several different career paths metallurgists can take at an aluminum manufacturing facility.
The main project would also focus on either the development of a new product or on improving the capability of an existing product. It is likely to include:
  • Experience with industry testing methods (tensile, fatigue, corrosion ....)
  • Structured problem solving
  • Research
  • Trial/experiment design & implementation
  • Analytical analysis
  • Translating customer requirements into critical process variables
  • Presenting and communicating results
  • Establishing process controls
