POSITION SUMMARY:

The General Superintendent leads the construction process and maximizes the teams' potential to safely deliver a successful project. The General Superintendent, as an extension to the Operations Manager, will act as an ambassador of the Manhattan brand who ensures clients, users, and the local community are proud of and satisfied with the development of our projects. Responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed, and adherence to budget of multiple projects. This position must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills and strong communication and client service skills.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage construction risks on assigned projects.
  • Develop and implement remedies to address cost overruns or schedule slippages on assigned projects.
  • Assist with the implementation and interpretation of Company safety programs on assigned projects.
  • Deliver a quality project that meets the client's agreed specifications to time and budget.
  • Ensure the appropriate project reporting is completed within the agreed timeframe and provide clear direction to the project team.
  • Ensure project schedule is built per company policies and ensure all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
  • Take part in the review of bid schedules and General Conditions estimates on assigned projects.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings on assigned projects.
  • Assists with PreCon/Estimating phase of the project on those projects assigned.
  • Attend project status report reviewing on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for conducting themselves in accordance with our Guiding Principles and exhibiting attributes matching the Way We Work.

JOB SKILLS & ABILITIES GUIDELINES:

  • Track record of working on large construction projects
  • Experience with risk management and claim resolution

  • Strong decision-making/problem-solving skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree- Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent. May substitute required education degree with related experience on a one-to-one basis
  • 15 years of industry experience
  • Experience in healthcare, laboratories, and sports sectors preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS:

  • You must be adaptable to all types of weather conditions and traverse and inspect all areas of a construction job site, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, sit for long periods, and squat throughout the day.
  • Ability to repeat the same movements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to participate fully in meetings, video conferences, and phone calls.
  • Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails and written correspondence.
  • Must be able to lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Travel may be required occasionally, primarily in the metropolitan area but sometimes domestically (must have a valid Driver's License).
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards.
