The Cashier Supervisor will be responsible and accountable for managing our cashier department and upholding the high standards of the company and its reputation. The cashier supervisor will help the general manager and his or her management team to ensure that the store operates in a way that helps deliver excellent customer service, maximizes financial return, and fosters an environment that makes Ghirardelli a great place to work for our employees.
Starting Rate: $22.00/hr
Cashiering
  • Greet each Guest using both verbal and non-verbal communication in a positive manner
  • Process purchases using either scanner technology or electronic keypad
  • Properly bag purchases -- wrapping breakable items where necessary
  • Up-sell to Guest using established and appropriate procedures
  • Process final purchases with either proper cash handling techniques or credit card transactions
  • Close each transaction with a friendly greeting and inviting the guest to return

Guest Service
  • When not processing purchases, assist guests on sales floor with purchases
  • Utilize knowledge of products and pricing to satisfy guest inquiries and create up-sell opportunities
  • Replenish stock of durable and perishable goods as needed
  • Answer shop phone system and respond to guest service needs in a professional manner
  • Regularly assist Chocolateers, Supervisors, and Management in monitoring guest activity and creating excitement with superior guest service
  • Assist, when necessary, in pre-packing items for sale; gift-wrapping items for sale; inventory control and management
  • Offer samples of product to guests
  • Supervise Cashier team, directing breaks, assisting with register issues, etc.

Specific Knowledge & Skills
  • Clear, professional, and effective oral and written communication
  • Team-building skills of empathy, rapport-building, delegation, and empowerment
  • Ability to manage time effectively and be self-directed under minimal supervision
  • Ability to conduct evidence-based business forecasting for sales and resource needs
  • Familiarity with point of sale systems, such as MICROS
  • Knowledge of restaurant or retail management techniques

Education and/ Experience
  • High School Diploma Preferred
  • 2 -- 4 years minimum experience in retail/restaurant cashiering
