Job description

TITLE: Field Quality Engineer


LOCATION: Houston, TX


DIRECT REPORTS: No


FLSA STATUS: Exempt


REPORTS TO: Senior Manager Quality & Warranty


FUNCTION: Position will play instrumental role in analysis of Failed parts returned from warranty to decide actions and helping the recovery of warranty cost from suppliers. Field Quality Engineer position will also be responsible for the detection, analysis, reporting and monitoring of resolutions of Product Quality and Process Quality issues occurring at distribution centers, dealers, and customers.



GOAL: This position is designed to quickly and effectively analyze part failures reported from Dealers/Customers across US/CA. Key function of this profile is to interact with Dealers/customer and Regional service managers to understand key issues raised thru online dealer module and work on providing solutions on faster pace thru parts analysis.


REQUIREMENTS:

    • Technical Product knowledge in Tractors, Off-road or Farm equipment industry is ESSENTIAL.
    • Independent exposure to parts Failure Analysis and problem resolution.
    • Able to inspect parts as per drawing dimensions and able to identify non-conformance
    • Monitor dealer portal for complaints and work with Dealers and Field Service Managers to resolve complaints.

Experience in the following elements required:

  • Strong technical/mechanical background in tractor/construction equipment/farm equipment technologies
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to converse with dealers and employees via phone and email
  • Support in administration of product updates on customer tractors & dealer stock tractors and execution of campaigns
  • Good understanding of Electrical circuits, ECU diagnostics through diagnostic tools. Able to use multimeter and how electrical systems and circuits troubleshoot.
  • Skilled at parts assembly/dis-assembly, able to use basics tools for parts tear down analysis.
  • Have a root cause / countermeasure approach to problem resolution
  • Ability to work in a team environment and multitasking approach
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; job requires full use of hands and arms and ability to talk, see, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Work with suppliers to correct product non-conformance reported in product supplied.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

Candidates need to have a thorough knowledge of tractor/ equipment. This individual will need to have ability to communicate effectively with plants, dealers, suppliers, and internal team members.

  • Bachelor’s / Associate Degree in Engineering, with technical certifications
  • 5+ years of experience (with Engineering Graduation) in failure parts analysis, parts inspection, drawing study and quality audits.
  • 10+ years of experience (without Engineering Graduation) in failure parts analysis, parts inspection, drawing study and quality audits.
  • Ability to prepare failure analysis reports and independent meetings with cross functional teams to explain case studies.
  • Able to operate MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently is required.
  • Must have resources to provide reliable transportation to and from place of work
  • High energy levels, Strong communication, presentation, and teamwork skills


Experience in the following elements desired:

  • Knowledge of SAP system added advantage
