Job description

Construction Foreman

Kreider & Diller Builders, Inc.

Lancaster, PA | Field-Based

$35–$40/hour + Performance Bonus

Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Build Quality Work. Lead a Crew. Take Ownership of the Job.

Kreider & Diller Builders is looking for an experienced Carpenter Foreperson who knows the trade, can read a set of plans, and knows how to keep a crew productive and a job moving.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You won't spend your day sitting in an office—you'll be in the field working alongside the team, directing carpenters and other trades, solving problems, maintaining quality, and making sure the work gets done safely and correctly.

We're a third-generation, family-owned construction company serving Lancaster County and the surrounding area. Since 1959, we've built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, dependable service, and doing things the right way. Our team works on residential and commercial construction, renovations, additions, multi-family projects, and other specialty work.

If you're an experienced carpenter who's ready to lead from the front, we'd like to talk with you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and direct carpenters and other field personnel on active job sites
  • Work hands-on while keeping the crew organized, productive, and on schedule
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Perform and oversee carpentry work including framing, doors, windows, cabinetry, trim, and finish work
  • Lay out work and communicate daily priorities to the crew
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades so work happens in the proper sequence
  • Monitor workmanship and make sure completed work meets K&D's quality standards
  • Identify job-site problems early and work with the Project Manager or Superintendent to resolve them
  • Coordinate materials, deliveries, tools, and equipment needed to keep work moving
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
  • Enforce company safety procedures and address potential hazards
  • Communicate job progress, delays, material needs, and field issues to project leadership
  • Help train and develop less-experienced members of the crew
  • Represent Kreider & Diller professionally with customers, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project partners

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, knows carpentry, and can earn the respect of a crew.

You should have:

  • Strong hands-on carpentry and general construction experience
  • Previous experience leading or directing a construction crew
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • The ability to plan work and clearly direct others
  • Reliable attendance and a track record of showing up on time, every day
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and job-site safety
  • The ability to recognize quality work and correct problems when something isn't right
  • Good judgment and practical problem-solving skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • A valid driver's license
  • The physical ability to perform construction work in varying weather conditions, lift and move materials, and work at heights

No specific degree or certification is required.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $35–$40 per hour
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Monday through Friday
  • 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • 40-hour typical workweek with a 30-minute lunch
  • Field-based position serving projects in and around Lancaster, PA

Benefits & Perks

  • Medical coverage for the employee after 90 days
  • 401(k) eligibility after one year of service, with company contribution
  • One week's vacation after one year; two weeks after two years
  • Six paid holidays
  • Company vehicle
  • Company-paid vehicle maintenance and gas
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
