Job description

Purpose:
The Educational Empowerment Group is seeking candidates to fill the position of Construction/Carpentry Instructor for the Ohio Construction Academy (OCA) located in Columbus, Ohio. OCA was created in 2013 by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) organization to help meet the employment needs and shortages within the building trades industry. We are facing a national crisis with the lack of viable employees within our trades organizations. OFE is designed to meet that crisis by producing the next generation of trades specialists.
This public school of choice has three major goals: get every student their high school diploma, prepare them with the appropriate trade skills to enter an apprenticeship program with a reputable company, and prepare them socially to meet the challenges of the ever-changing work place.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the success all of the OCA students in general construction and carpentry.
  • Teach students by using the NCCER curriculum.
  • Have all students achieve module success to receive their NCCER certifications, level one and two
  • Have all students enter an apprenticeship program or employment upon graduation
  • Must be creative, innovative and willing to help students daily
  • Enter all students into trade competitions and other activities to demonstrate their success and the success of your program
  • Assist School Administrator in such activities as school recruitment, building management, family and community relations, and all other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma (Required)
  • OSHA Certification (Required); Instructor Ability (Preferred)
  • Journeyman Level Experience or CTE Instructor Certification (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of NCCER Certification (Plus)
  • You will need to be Certified by the Ohio Department of Education to Instruct
  • Ability to work and assist with today's youth (Required)
