Job description

Finish Carpenter – Historic Restoration

Location: Boise, Idaho
Project Type: Commercial – Historic Restoration
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Finish Carpenter for a long-term commercial historic restoration project in Boise, Idaho. The carpenter will focus primarily on the restoration and repair of existing window and door frames, using finish-carpentry techniques that preserve the character and integrity of the historic property.

Candidates must be local/native to Idaho.

Key Responsibilities
  • Restore and repair historic window and door frames.
  • Sand and prepare existing wood surfaces for restoration and finishing.
  • Patch damaged or deteriorated areas using Bondo and other appropriate repair materials.
  • Perform wood infill and Dutchman/dutch-cut repairs as required.
  • Complete full replacement of window or door frame components when restoration is not feasible.
  • Assist with glazing removal and replacement as needed.
  • Perform precise finish-carpentry work while maintaining the appearance and character of historic building components.
  • Follow project specifications, job-site safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with project supervision and other trades to keep restoration work on schedule.
Qualifications
  • Professional experience as a Finish Carpenter, preferably involving restoration, renovation, or detailed architectural woodwork.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and restoring window and door frames.
  • Proficiency with sanding, patching, Bondo repairs, wood infill, and Dutchman repairs.
  • Ability to determine when components can be restored versus when full replacement is required.
  • Glazing experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finish work.
  • Comfortable working on an active commercial construction/restoration site.
  • Must be dependable and available for a Monday–Friday schedule throughout the project.
  • Must be local/native to Idaho.
