CARPENTER FOREPERSON
Victoria, BC
Duties
Supervising job sites and crew activity following direction from the Site Superintendent- Managing and coordinating the activity of crews to meet determined work schedules
- Read blueprints to determine project specifications and construct formwork according to drawings
- Ensuring safety codes and regulations are being correctly followed and adhered to
- Ensuring erected structures have been constructed to code and engineering requirements
- Resolving all site-related problems and making recommendations to improve worksite efficiency
Maintaining project records, including approving time sheets for all crew members
Physical Requirements
Able to work at heights and balance on platforms, scaffolds, and decks
Able to work alone, or as part of a team
Able to travel within the Greater Victoria Area and/or Vancouver Island
Work is physically demanding
Hardworking and able to accept direction from a Supervisor
Ability to work exposed to the elements
Qualification Requirements
3+ years of foreman, lead hand or supervisory experience, required
Red Seal Journeyman certificate in Carpentry, an asset, or 5+ years' experience in the trade, required
Ability work with, coordinate and provide direction to multiple sub trades on any given site
Ability to manage on site in house labour
Good communication skills
Knowledge in trade related math, volumes, and areas
Be able to read blueprints and understand the BC Building Code
