Job description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking an Upper School Art Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at an independent school in the Jackson, MS area.

Essential Duties:

  • Teach fundamental art skills and concepts for upper school students.
  • Introduce students to various forms of art such as painting, sculpting, mixed media, sketching, and/or drawing.
  • Use a variety of different materials to diversify student experiences in art making.
  • Evaluate each student’s progress in their knowledge and skills.
  • Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay up to date with innovations in art education.
  • Assist with managing department budget to ensure strategic allocation of resources.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master's degree preferred in an art field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the K-12 preferred.
  • Passion for visual art, art history, and the fine arts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. Work Authorization required.
