Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
A Career Coach provides Career Management administrative, marketing, social media, and data/analytics support. Additionally, the Career Coach position at USC Upstate allows student workers to gain valuable insight into career preparation, exploration, and connection via Career Services programs, events, and outreach.
Administrative
- Provide assistance and serve as the front-line contact for walk-in visitors and appointments
- Answer phone calls, emails, and host minimal office hours to ensure coverage
- Schedule appointments, communicate in person, email, or on the phone with employers and business partners
- Assist in inventory management and orderliness of career closet, including tracking donations and student use
-Assist students in career closet with clothing selections as needed
-Assist Upstate students and alumni with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies
-Other duties as assigned
Social Media
- Suggest creative weekly posts about resources, services, and events for IG and FB accounts
-Once approved by Carrer Management staff, make weekly updates to IG and FB content
-Create additional social media campaigns to promote Handshake and build awareness for Big Interview
-Possess a sensitivity to matters related to diversity and inclusion
-Assist in content curation for Career Management YouTube channel to ensure relevance and appeal to a broad audience Marketing
- Create promotional materials (i.e. flyers, webpage, design,) to build awareness to students, faculty, parents, and alumni about Career Services' events, programs, and resources as needed
-Promote Handshake and other services to campus community through tabling, presentations to student organizations, and individual appointments and drop-ins
Data/Analytics
- Assist with distributing and collecting survey responses from students and employers after appointments, presentations, and career events
Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Ability to think critically and tactfully problem solve
- Articulate thoughts and ideas in excellent written and oral forms of communication to students, professionals, parents, alumni, staff, and faculty
- Use of digital technologies to increase student and alumni outreach and awareness of Career Services' resources and services
- Engage with campus leaders to build relationships and partnerships
- Ability to effectively multi-task, problem solve, and work well with other Career Coaches, students, and campus leaders to manage projects
- Show professionalism through networking and front-line contact.
